Dear diary,

For a start don't start with dear diary, I thought we already agreed on that?

I've been busy. Very busy. So busy that I haven't had time to write in this book. Never mind. It's not something I need to do regularly... but honestly I might as well.

A big deal finishes in a month's time, and then it's off on holiday I go. Off to the lovely warm forest clearing in [REMOVED - see note below] for a couple of weeks.

(Note: location removed for privacy. Close friends of Mr Marcelo know the location anyway.)

May 7th 2002

May 7th 2002

It's been a while since I picked this up. I should make it a habit really, especially with my job. All these things to remember - get these parts from this supplier by this date, brief the team on this production line to do that with this and when. Yes. A diary would make that so much easier.

Other than that? Thoughts and feelings. That's what you're supposed to put in a diary. Thoughts and feelings. Comment on the weather. What I had for lunch today. Chicken sandwich. Things like that.

None of that 'dear diary' stuff. That's for children. And I don't intend to show this to anyone. Might be personal things, you never know.

So I'll start today. It's the seventh of May and it's getting warmer. Not long now until I can take a holiday down by the lake. Beautiful place. Bled me dry for a little while with the price but I don't regret it. The view of the sun coming through the trees on the hill and the light splashing over the deep blue lake... and it's warm there too. Harvey used to love it, so did Mike.

Mike.

[Note from poster: unintelligible scribbling follows for a few lines and normal handwriting continues.]

The past. Move on, Colin. Move on.

Hmm. A month and a bit to go until I can leave this dump of a town and go on holiday.

One month, fourteen days.

In Memoriam

Notice From Uxbridge Council

This blog has been created to encourage people to come forwards - people with evidence, people who may be able to lend their support to this most tragic of cases.

The Facts

Colin Marcelo lived in Uxbridge for most of his life. He worked in industry as an engineer, and earned enough money to own a small cottage by a lake where he retired each Summer.

A fortnight ago today, Colin Marcelo vanished from his Summer house. It is unknown why he was there in Winter, as the weather in the location the house is situated is extremely bad at this time of year.

How You Can Help

Colin's only son, Mr Harvey Marcelo, is thirty nine, and has kindly granted us permission to post extracts from the diary that his father kept to, "religiously" as his son put it. Every few days, another entry will be typed up and posted in the hopes that it may jog someone's memory and they come forward with evidence in the form of an eyewitness, an overheard conversation or anything that you feel may be of use to the investigation.

Mr Marcelo is distraught by the disappearance of his father and would like to inform all readers that he will not be answering letters, email or phone calls unless they pertain to the matter at hand. Anyone attempting to harass him, in light of the situation, will be prosecuted.

Thank you, citizens of Uxbridge. Enjoy your day and remember: if you know anything, it's worth coming forward.
